Derartu is also a living legend, pioneer African woman athlete, celebrated with gold, known for her unique smile, admired for her compassion, and symbolized as “Ethiopia” for her extraordinary contribution for humanity and peace.

Derartu Coffee is here to provide single origin Ethiopian Arabica coffee that is completely traceable, fully organic, and heirloom variety. Our coffee originates from the well-known highlands of coffee cultivating regions Guji, Kaffa, Yirgacheffe, Sidama, and many more.
Our coffee is collected from the diligent cultivators around different parts of origins. Our company works closely and directly with the cultivators, providing them with various forms of technical support to enhance their productivity and promote sustainable production capacity.
Ethiopia, THE LAND OF ORIGIN, is the birth place of coffee. Thanks to the goat herder Mr. Kaldi, who was the founder of the power of coffee beans, coffee has become the central part Ethiopian society. Every Ethiopian kid growing up remembers being sent to invite neighbors to gather and drink coffee on a daily basis. It is not just drinking a cup of coffee rather it’s a ceremony building harmony, love, and social values. Varieties
Guji Coffee
It’s named after one of the zones of Oromia Region, Guji, surrounded by Ganale Dorya River in the north. It’s considered as the nerve center of the Oromo culture and widely exercises the Gada system. Among their diverse culture coffee farming is the bold one.
Yirgacheffe Coffee
Home to the most elusive and complex profiles due to its garden production system, Yirgacheffe offers the best quality arabica coffee in the world. Cultivators in this area own small plots of land around (0.25 to 2 hectares) growing their coffee under shades of banana trees and other nitrogen crops.
Sidama Coffee
It’s named after the name of the province where this coffee is grown and the ethnic group known as Sidama, which is located in the south centeral part of Ethiopia. Sidama coffee has floral notes of like jasmine or rose. The fruity notes, such as citrus, berries or stone fruit, and nutty notes, such as hazelnut or almond, enhance the depth and complexity of the coffee.
Limmu Coffee
It originates from one of the zones of southwest Oromia region and grows at an altitude of 1500 to 1900 MASL producing medium-sized beans with a characteristic round shape and green color. Limmu coffee has fruity notes with soft berry undertones and chocolate-floral notes as well.
Bale Coffee
Bale coffee originates from and named after the zone located in the southeastern part of Oromia region, Bale. Of all the coffee originated from different parts of Ethiopia, Bale coffee consists of the exceptional traits of all Ethiopian coffees. It consists of fruity notes, such as the tropical taste of tangy papaya and pronounced taste of strawberry.
Djimma Coffee
Jimma zone is Ethiopia’s largest coffee catchment area for its local and export coffee sales. The location is found at an altitude of 1300 to 1800 MASL and provides an ideal environment for the coffee plants. The plants are well protected by the numerous forest trees that provide shade and help preserve soil moisture for prolonged period of time. The washed coffee is excellent with low acidity.
Nekemte Coffee
Like most of the other coffee, Nekemte coffee is named after the town found in the Wolega zone of Oromia Region. The unique coffee that is cultivated at an altitude of 1900 to 2200 MASL has green to brownish color and an elongated bean. It is highly valuable for its smooth and sweet fruity flavor; furthermore, the higher quality beans also consist of citrus, honey and floral notes.
Ilu Aba Bora Coffee
Ilu Aba Bora commonly referred to as Ilubabor is located in the southwestern part of Oromia Region. It is a place where it gets all year-round rainfall and is filled with dense forest. Ilubabor coffee is characterized by its light-body, bright acidity, and complex flavor. It also has citrus, chocolate, and spicy notes.
Kefa Coffee
The name coffee itself is believed to be derived from the name Kefa. It is located in the south western region of Ethiopia. Kefa coffee grows in the highlands of Ethiopia within the altitude range of 500 to 3300 MASL. It is characterized by its bright fruitiness, high acidity, smooth body and clean finish.
